What is Sodium Molybdate?
Application of Sodium Molybdate
1. Used for preparing molybdenum salts, dyes, pigments, catalysts, corrosion inhibitors, etc.
2. Used as a metal corrosion inhibitor, descaling agent, bleaching promoter, and skin and hair protectant.
3. Used as an analytical reagent for alkaloid determination, dye and pharmaceutical industries.
4. It is used as a precipitant, catalyst, and molybdenum salt in the production of alkaloids, inks, fertilizers, molybdenum red pigments, and sun resistant pigments. It can also be used in the production of flame retardants and metal inhibitors for pollution-free cold water systems. It is also used as a galvanizing, polishing agent, and chemical reagent.
5. Sodium molybdate belongs to the anodic oxide film type corrosion inhibitor, which forms a passive film of ferrous high iron molybdenum oxide on the anodic iron to inhibit corrosion.
6. Sodium molybdate has low toxicity and low degree of environmental pollution, and is currently a widely used new type of water treatment agent. In order to achieve better corrosion inhibition effect, molybdate is often used in combination with polyphosphate, gluconate, zinc salt, and benzotriazole. This not only reduces the amount of molybdate used, but also improves the corrosion inhibition effect. After compounding, the amount of molybdate used decreases from 200-500mg/L to 4-6mg/L. During the film formation process of molybdate, there must be dissolved oxygen present, without the need for calcium ions (or other divalent metal ions). Sodium molybdate has high thermal stability and can be used in circulating water systems with high heat flux density and local overheating.

The Impact of Sodium Molybdate On Health
Eyes: The cause of eye inflammation.
Skin: The skin is irritating.
Ingestion: May cause gastrointestinal irritation such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The toxicological properties of this substance have not been fully investigated.
Inhalation: May cause respiratory irritation.
Chronic: No information available.
Emergency Measures
Eyes: Rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting upper and lower eyelids. Seeking medical assistance.
Skin: Seeking medical assistance. Rinse the skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothes thoroughly before reuse.
Ingestion: Do not give to anyone who is unconscious after oral ingestion. Seeking medical assistance. Don't induce vomiting. If awake and alert, rinse your mouth and drink 2-4 cups of milk or water.
Inhalation: Immediately transfer from exposure to fresh air. If there is no breathing, perform artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. Seeking medical assistance.
Reminder to physicians: actively treat symptoms.
